17th - 19th February 2012 - Kingsbarn Senior Advanced/Progressive show jumping
Just finished photographing 3 days of jumping at Kingsbarn and what an event it was. I've never seen the place so busy. The £10 entry fee for ALL classes certainly helped as did the generous prize money for the bigger ones. Lots of action as well with Ellen Whitaker stealing the show (and the top prize money in the 1.40m open championship). Looking forward to the next one!
All images are now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery.

10th February 2012 - An evening with Douglas Duffin and Volcano.
Gleneagles Equestrian Centre was the venue for a great evenings entertainment with Douglas Duffin demonstrating show jumping techniques with Craig Hamilton and their horses including the famous Volcano.  Douglas was on hand to answer any questions and there was an opportunity for members of the public to have their photo taken with Douglas and Volcano courtesy of Sinclair Photography.

04th February 2012 - Strathendrick Riding club dressage competition.
A bitterely cold morning met those brave enough to take part in the Strathendrick dressage competition.  The initial plans were to have 2 rings outside however Jack Frost and his icy breath put an end to that on Saturday night, forcing the organisers indoors.  As a result there was no option but to cancel some of the latre classes so only 2 classes were run in the end.  However it was still a good (if cold) day and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves despite the weather.  At least it didnt snow unlike the rest of the UK!  The next competition will be 1st April so hopefully we'll see everyone who didnt make it then.
Images are now on line in the Strathendrick gallery.

29th January 2012 - Calendar update
Added a couple of dates for the next couple of months to keep my calendar up to date.

28th January 2012 - Kingsbarn Senior Intro competition

This time last year we were under 3 feet of snow, so to be able to photograph any event in January is a plus, but to see the excellent turnout on Sunday was a bonus.  It was an action packed day with several riders finding their mounts were either no longer underneath them and they were on the floor or slamming on the brakes at the last minute causing a several gasps from the crowd.
Images from the day can be found in the Kingsbarn gallery.

27th January 2012 - Kingsbarn Affiliated Dressage competition
It's been a while since I've photographed a dressage event and it was good to get back in to spend a day photographing elegance and calm - I like dressage - it's strangely relaxing.  The only problem was the cold.  It was absolutely freezing and you dont tend to move about much so things like fingers and feet get very cold!
Images are now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery

22nd January 2012 - Kingsbarn Senior New Year Show (days 4 and 5)

After a busy day 4 of the Senior New year show at Kingsbarn, day 5 - the finals - was a quieter affair but by no means less entertaining with some excellent jumping throughout the six classes.  Well done to all the winners from todays finals!
Images are now on line in the Kingsbarn Gallery.  A 3 for 2 offer is on this album.

20th January 2012 - Kingsbarn Senior New Year show (day 3)
Day 3 of the Senior New year show got under way today and even though everyone was getting ready for the Show Jumpers ball at Airth castle later in the evening there was a very good turnout.  Two further days of jumping to come with the finals taking place on Sunday - unless the Scottish Weather does its thing and the predicted high winds and snow strike!
Images from day 3 are now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery.  3 for 2 applies.
All images from this show purchased (3 for 2 - 9" x 6" prints) will be entered in to a draw to win an A3 print of your choice.

14th and 15th January 2012 - Kingsbarn Senior New Year Show (day 1 and 2)
Following on from the Junior show the week before, it was now the turn of the Seniors to take part in the Annual Kingsbarn New Year Show.  With over £5,000 prize money available it was going to be a busy couple of days!
All classes were very well attended by some of Scotlands top Sho Jumpers and it was great to see several riders putting new horses through their paces - some for the first time.  All classes were photographed and both days have their own galleries.  The remaining qualifiers and finals of 4 of the classes will be held at Kingsbarn on 20th - 22nd January 2012.  Images from those dates will be added at the time.

All images are now on line for the 14th and 15th in the Kingsbarn Galldery.  A 3 for 2 offer is available and all images purchased fromthe show during January will be entered in to a draw to win an A3 print of your choice!

06th, 07th and 8th January 2012 - Kingsbarn Junior Show Jumping competition
The final day of jumping at Kingsbarn saw the championships of four of the classes completed from the last 3 days. Each of the winners won a sash and a rug courtesy of the centre.
All images are now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery.

04th January 2012 - Calendar will be updated soon!
I'll be updating my calendar shortly with upcoming events for 2012 although for most weekends in January I'll be at Kingsbarn. In the meantime if you want to book a photoshoot or other event please get in touch.

03rd January 2012 - Kingsbarn Senior Intro competition
There was a good turnout for the first Senior Intro of 2012 at Kingsbarn and the ever so slightly icy conditions and howling wind did nothing to deter the spirits of those taking part.  Well done to Hayleyt Stevenson who won 2 of the classes!
Unfortunately the severe weather conditions on 3rd January 2012 meant day 2 was cancelled.

Images arre now on line in the Kingsbarn Gallery.
There is a buy one get one free on all 9" x 6" prints from this album for January 2012 only!

01st January 2012 - HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL!
I hope everyone had a great New Year celebration and your heads aren't too sore today!  Here's to a great 2012!

30th Decembr 2011 - Kingsbarn Christmas Show and show jumping competition
Originally planned for the 28th but cancelled due to gale force winds, it was great to see the Kingsbarn Christmas show return after 2 years of cancelations due to heavy snow.  Everyone had a great time and a huge effort was made in the fancy dress.  The highlight of the show however was the Kingsbarn "Chase me Santa" which saw Barry Hill and Sophie Hunter battle it out for the top prize.  Barry won jumping 1.40m with Sophie coming second clearing a personal best of 1.35m.
Images are now on line and theres a buy one get one free on selected items until end January 2012

21st December 2011 - Wardhouse Riding school Pony club Christmas party
Iain from Wardhouse Riding School asked if I'd come down to photograph the pony club's Christmas Party.  It was a great night with over 20 club members taking part in a variety of games.  Everyone got to choose a framed photo to take home which went down really well!
Images are now agailable in the Wardhouse gallery (password protected).

17th December 2011 - Strathkelvin riding club Christmas Mini Olympia show.
Despite being a bitterly cold day there was a good turnout for this years Strathkelvin Winter show at Woodend riding centre on Saturday.  With showing classes in the morning followed by show jumping in the afternoon there was something for everyone cilminating with the "chase the Turkey Puisance"!
Images are now on line in the Strathkelvin RC gallery.  A 3 for 2 is available.

15th December 2011 - NEW GIFT IDEA - 6" x 4" print and 3 wallet sized prints.
Keep someone close to you at all times with this great new offer. 11th December 2011 - Kingsbarn Pony British show jumping - day 2
With a heavy rainfall over night, the snow was gone and the weather much improved, as were the numbers that attended day 2 of Kingsbarn's Pony show jumping competition.  An excellent day of jumping ensued with Graeme Babes capping the day off winning the 148cms restricted open on Dollar Girl, a pony he's taking to Olympia next week and in a second jump off (against himself) produced a clear round at a height of up to 1.40m.
Images now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery

10th December 2011 - Kingsbarn Pony British Show jumping - day 1

Despite the first significant snowfall the night before the turnout for the early part of the competition was pretty healthy and Mark McGowan's courses kept the entrants busy for most of the morning.  However the bigger classes were heavily affected by the weather both the snowand the earlier "Hurricane" that hit Scotland during the week.  Fingers crossed Sunday is busier.

Images from Saturday are now on line in the Kingsbarn album

6th December 2011 - OOPS!  Forgot to update my calendar!
What with Christmas fast approaching, the weather turning a tad nasty and a steady stream of orders coming in every day I've not had chance to update my calendar of events.
Suffice to say with the festive season approaching I'll be mostly at Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre at the weekends until the New Year - snow permitting of course.
For details of their events (and until I can get my calendar updated) please visit www.kingsbarnequestrian.co.uk for upcoming details.  I'm still available during the week for private bookings right up to Christmas.

04th December 2011 - SNEC - Woodside dog agility competition
Whilst we were packing up from Saturdays Pony club show I got a text from my sister in law advising me there was a dog agility competition at SNEC the following day.  I got chatting to a couple of the organisers who kindly invited us along.  I've not photographed a dog agility show for a while and an indoor show would be a real challenge.  No onw knew we would be there and we were told we'd not be allowed in the arenas so we decided to use the opportunity as a training day - dog agility is something I'm keen to get involved in for 2012 so it would be great practice.  Sunday came (along with the snow) and we turned up not quite knowing what to expect - it was huge!  Some 700 dogs, 5 rings and a multitute of breeds all competing in a variety of grades and classes.  It was tough going trying to keep up with the pace of both the competition and the dogs but we got a fair few action shots.
Images can be found in the "Agility" album

03rd December 2011 - Linlithgow & Stirling Pony Club fun show - SNEC
With the weather being so evil at the moment I didnt think this show would be that busy - how wrong I was.  There was a great turnout and the atmosphere was superb!  Each class had large numbers of entries and I apologise if I missed anyone whilst flitting between the rings in an attempt to cover everything I could.
Images now on line in the "Linlithgow and Stirling PC! album.

27th November 2011 - Kingsbarn Senior Intro show jumping competition
Severe gales and driving rain over the weekend prevented many riders attending this months Senior Intro show jumping competition.  Despite small numbers there was some great jumping and the Gareth Ainge's course really tested the riders to the full.
Images are now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery

26th November 2011 - East Stirling Pony club team show jumping competition

A very busy day at Kingsbarn today with the annual East Stirling Pony club team show jumping competition.  A great day for the Duke of Buccleuch who won 2 classes.

Images are now on line in the East Stirling PC album.  A 3 for 2 offer is on this album

Images are now on line in the Kingsbarn album

12th and 13th November 2011
Two days of dressage with both affiliated and affiliated dressage tests saw lots of action this weekend.  Saturday was much quieter than expected (partly caused by a riding club team dressage competition at SNEC) however Sunday was nice and busy and there were some very impressive scores.  Well done David Gatherer who took first in three classes riding Bingo 2 and Danielle Marshall who took first in both the Prelim classes.

11th November 2011 - British Show Jumping (Scotland) - Junior Training Academy
Went along to the BSJA(S) junior training academy at Kingsbarn this evening.  This was the first of the classes where top Scottish trainers and riders including Martin Arnott coach the next generation of potential show jumping hopefulls!  Photographed the show jumping training and I'm offering a disc of all the images for each rider.

06th November 2011 - Kingsbarn Senior Intro Show Jumping competition.

A cold but very sunny day greeted those taking part in today Kingsbarn Senior Intro show.  With the 2nd round of the Amateur National qualifiers taking place classes had healthy numbers as those taking part vied for the few qualifying places available.
Images are now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery.  A 3 for 2 offer is available.

27th - 30th October 2011 - Kingsbarn Elite show jumping competition
Spent the last 4 days at kingsbarn for their annual Elite show jumping competition.  With £20,000 prize pot it was going to be a big event and it didn't dissappoint with some fantastic riding by some of the UK's top riders.
A big well done to Jackie and her team for making the event run smoothly and with a great atmosphere!

All images from the event are now on line in the Kingsbarn album.

23rd October 2011 - Kingsbarn affiliated and unaffiliated dressage competition
With the eventing and showing seasons drawing to a close events are now moving back indoors and the dressage competitions are starting to get busy again.  Sundays dressage competiton at Kingsbarn was no exception!  With 10 different classes it was great to see a real mix of experiences and ages taking part.  Nick was kept very busy with  the on site printing and we sisnt leave until almost 7pm!
Images are now on line in the Kingsbarn album

22nd October 2011 - Kingsbarn Senior Intro Show jumping

It was a good turnout for todays Senior Intro show.  Busy classes and challenging courses really made for a great day.  Our new on site printing service was kept really busy and I'd like to say a big thank you for the fantastic comments we received about the images.
Images from todays show are now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery

15th and 16th October 2011 - Kingsbarn BSJA Senior show jumping

With the Kingsbarn Elite show just 2 weeks away, last weekends show jumping competition was a chance for some of those taking part at the big show to suss out the comeptition and it proved to be a great weekend with many close results.  We also tested our new on site printing facilities for the first time and feedback on both quality and the new stand was superb.
Images from Saturday and Sunday are now on line

14/10/2011 - The wedding of Fraser and Donna
I was contacted by Donna and Fraser way back in January from a recommendation by a mutual friend and I've been looking forward to their big day for sothe time.
Theyre the kind of people you meet and you know immediately that you're in for a fun time with and their wedding day rerflected their personalities perfectly.  we covered all aspects of the wedding and used our portable studio in the evening with great success and everyone had a great time!
Images are now on line in the Wedding album

10/11/2011 - The wedding of Gordon and Susan
Finally the weather and the persistent rain stopped (for the most part anyway) in time for Susan and Gordon's wedding in Glasgow.  Starting at Glasgow and then heading out to New Lanark we had a great time photographing the day which included a tea party and some fantastic waterfalls!
Images now on line in the wedding album.

08/10/2011 - Kingsbarn Photoshoot with Lucy, Pat and Tamara
With most people at HOYS (or watching it) it was great to get the arena to myself with a couple of the liveries at Kingsbarn for a private photoshoot.  The weather meant any outdoor posed shots were not going to happen however the guys were more than happy to hold a mini show with some posed shots in the arena and some jumping - keeping it simple as both the guys had relatively new horses.  All in all a fun day which went very quickly!
Images now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery

02/10/2011 - Wester Deanhead Autumn Show

After the success of the photoshoot they day before I was looking forward to the Autumn show and despite another gloomy day the mornings showing classes (held indoors) went really well with a good turnout.  By the time the afternoons show jumping competition started the rain had stopped and we had some great action with four hours solid jumping.
Images now on line in the Wester Deanhead album.  There's a 3 for 2 offer on the album.

02/10/2011 - Wester Deanhead Autumn Show
After a fun filled day on the Saturday I was back at Wester Deanhead on the Sunday for their Autumn Show.  The weather was its typical self with rain and more rain in the morning so we held the showing classes indoors.  Come lunchtime however, things had cleared up and despite still looking very menacing the rain (for the most part) held off for the afternoons show jumping which took place outdoors.
Images are now on line in the Wester Deanhead album

01/10/2011 - Wester Deanhead photoshoot

Woke up on Saturday morning to heavy rain and very dull skies.  Not ideal for 8 individual photoshoots, however by the time I'd driven to Wester deanhead equestrian centre the rain had stopped and the clouds although still heavy with the threat of rain held of (for the most part).  Managed to get all 8 shoots done before the clouds descended and we were hidden in thick mist.

Images now on line in the Wester Deanhead album.

28/09/2011 - Kingsbarn schooling night.

Popped up to Kingsbarn for the trailblazers competition but the lovely warm waether seemed to discourage the usual competitors so it was a quiet night.  Spent the evening doing clear round jumping at various heights.

24/09/2011 - 25th September 2011 Kingsbarn - "The Masters"
Saturday saw the working huntr classes take place.  Entries were quiet however the quality was outstanding.
Sunday evening saw a new Granmd master for 2011 - well done to April Polock on Jackets Mayfair who took the prize and won £1000!
Images from Saturday's working hunter classes are now on line in the Kingsbarn album.
Sunday's grand master images are now on line in the Kingsbarn album.

21st September 2011 - Kingsbarn Trailblazers jumping evening
A quiet evening on Thursday for the trailblazers qualifiers but no less entertaining.
Spent the evening trying some pre focusing techniques - always a good technique to use in very low light situations when a camera cant find focus on a moving object - usually happens with dark objects against dark backgrounds or objects with little or no reflective surfaces.  Work really well.

18th September 2011 - Kingsbarn Unaffiliated Dressage
It was great to see such a healthy turnout at this months unaffiliated dressage competition held at Kingsbarn on Sunday.
Images now on line in the Kingsbarn gallery - a 3 for the price of 2 is available.

17th September 2011 - Scottish Vaulting Championships - Kingsbarn E.C
Vaulting continues to both fascinate and frighten the living daylights out of me as equestrian "gymnasts" as young as 6 years old perform beautifully graceful routines on the back of a moving horse.  The championships held at Kingsbarn over the weekend produced some stunning displays in front of top judges from Hungary and Holland.
Images are now on line under the Kingsbarn Gallery.  A 3 for the pric of 2 offer is available

10th September 2011 - Kingsbarn Senior intro inc sport jumping qualifiers.
The September Senior Intro saw a very healthy turnout at Kingsbarn and to add to the drama 2 classes (80cm and 1mtr) were sportjumping qualifiers.
Images now on line - a 3 for 2 offer applies

09th September 2011 - Sinclair Photography venture in to on site printing!

Event photography nowadays is all about the instant image and although I have monitors allowing those taking part to view my images almost immediately on the day I've not been able to print the images - that is until now.  I'm currently in the process of obtaining the necessary equipment to allow me to print on site at most events and hope to have everything up and running in the next few weeks...

04th September 2011 - HOT! HOT!

As per my front page, I'm currently on holiday somewhere very hot for a well earned break!  Managed to work out how to log on to my netbook via the hotel although I cant get access to anythig else - except ebay and what a goldmine that's turned out to be...more about that on my return on 9th September 2011.

28th August 2011 - Kingsbarn Junionr - Pony British Show jumping

This was a last minute show and with today seeing the start of the Scope festival in the Midlands, it was going to be a relatively quiet day - however despite only a small number of entries the event was full of drama and excitement with jumps up to 1.10m.
Images are now on line in the Kingsbarn Gallery.

25th August 2011 - Langlans show jumping competition
As the summer months draw to a close so does the Langlands summer show jumping comeptition and this is the last of the evening competitions for 2011.
The final will take place on Saturday 17th September 2011.
Images  now on line in the Langlands album.

21st August 2011 - Bark in the Park - Plean Country Park - Plean
The Bark in the Park is a great event held for dog lovers every 2 years at Plean country park which is literally 2 minutes from my door step - so it seemed only fitting that I pop along and get to know potential future customers.
It was a great sunny day and Jim from Top Dog training and his team did a great job of hosting the event along with Stirling Council.

Images are now on line in the "Bark in the Park" album.  A 3 for the price of 2 offer is available.

17th - 20th August 2011 - Blair International Horse Trials

From the evening of Wednesday 17th until the evending of Saturday 20th I'll be at Blair International Horse Trials working for International Event photographer Julia Shearwood and her team.  Julia and her team recently photographyed the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, so I'm really honoured to working alongside her team over the next 3 days.  I believe I'm covering the Working Hunters and the cross country so really looking forward to it - just hope the weather holds off!
The images I take will be avalaible at Julia's website - I'll add a link once available.

16th August 2011 - Scott Brash Show jumping lessons - Kingsbarn
I spent the day at Kingsbarn photographing some of the Scott Brash show jumping lessons. The weather outside was absolutely appauling so it was nice to be indoors and dry.
Images now on line - a special offer disc of each riders images will be available.

16th August 2011 - Sinclair Photography image used on the front page of the British Show Jumping website!
At the Senior show jumping on Sunday, the "Kingsbarnians" presented Scott Brash with a small Mascot called Henry and their best wishes as Scott travels to compete at the FEI World championships in Madrid in September.  Scott will be part of the team representing Great Britain and is at present the youngest rider and the only "Scot" in the team.  The photograph I took of the presentation and a small report I put together is now on the front page of the British Show Jumping website!  Click HERE if you'd like to read it

14th August 2011 - Kingsbarn Advanced Progressive show jumping
I initially thought this was just a Senior Intro but it turned out to be slightly bigger - and busier than I initially realised.  A great day of jumping by some top riders and despite the crazy weather outdoors it I remained nice and dry!
images are now on line in the "Kingsbarn" album - a 3 for 2 offer is available.

13th August 2011 - Kingsbarn Affiliated Dressage competition.
Spent a nice dry day at Kingsbarn after the weather ruined my other weekend events photographing the affiliated dressage.  After the success of an image in Horse and Hound last week I'm aiming for another this week after some great riding and top results.
Images now on line in the Kingsbarn album - a 3 for 2 offer is on this album

12th August 2011 - Wester Deanhead Pony camp 3

After the crazyness of the Monday jumping with the new "water feature" Fridays pony camp with the came group was set to be slightly insane and it didn't dissapoint.  With more jumping outdoors (with the water jump), tack and turnout and a host of games including some bizarre "bum riding" by Hamish the day ended with a Parents vs Kids tug o war which ended with the parents on their backs and much hilarity from the kids.
Images are now on line - if you took part you can claim a free A4 image from the day - get in touch for detials on ordering

10th August 2011 - Kingsbarn Thursday evening show jumping.
Popped up to Kingsbarn for their evening show jumping competition ahead of the trailblazers competition which starts the following Wednesday.
Images in the Kingsbarn folder

09th August 2011 - Genbrae Riding Club show jumping
The Glenbrae Riding club held their first show jumping competition of the month using their new jumps recently purchased for use by club.  It was a "filler fest" as riders faced a host of hypnotic boards over the twisting course.  Thankfully "Raoul's thong" wasnt used!
Images now on line - a 3 for 2 is on this album.

08th August 2011 - Wester Deanhead show jumping.
The usual Monday night show jumping took place at Wester Deanhead but with a slkight twist - they had a "water jump" - well I say water jump - after significant heavy rain for a couple of days an area of the arena had a large puddle that was just to right size to place a jump over.  It cause much hilarity with one rider taking an early bath!
Images now on line in the Wester Deanhead album

07th August 2011 - Polnoon Castle Riders Association - Show Jumping
This year is the Polnoon Castle riders association 50th anniversary and it was a real priviledge to photograph the show jumping on their behalf.  The original plan was to have an outdoor event at West Kype Farm in Strathaven, but the weather had other plans for us.  Torrential downpours the night before ruled out the planned jumping on grass, however all was not lost as the guys as West Kype Farm kindly allowed the group to use their brand new indoor arena which was perfect!  A big thank you to all those that braved the elements - youhelped make for a great day!
Images are now on line in the "Polnoon" album. A 3 for 2 is available on theis album

06th August 2011 - Tania Watt 21st Birthday celebrations  - Edinburgh
A last minute booking I went along to photograph Tania and her close family and friends for her 21st birthday celebrations.  The theme was Hollywood glamour and everyone was suitable dressed and really got in to the mood!  My portable studio came in to its own with all guests posing for photographs and then the DJ got everyone going - much dancing and "sloshing" followed!
Images to follow in a private gallery shortly

05th August 2011 - Milndavie RC pony club camp
I was back at Milndavie RC for their 3rd club camp.  Blue, toffee and the gang were back in action with a new group and as well as weaving there was a new cup game!
Images now on line in the Milndavie Album - a 3 for 2 applies to this album

Congratulations Diane McFarlane - Sinclair Photography winner!

Diane is the winner of the Sinclair Photography July competition and her name was drawn from my "hat" after she purchased some images from the Kingsbarn Senior Intro SHow earlier in the month. Diane wins an A2 poster print ofher choice from any of my galleries.

August calendar updated
Finally found 5 minutes to update this months calendar with what I'll be up to and where I'll be...

3rd August 2011 - Strathallan Castle training session with David Gatherer

I'd been looking forward to this training session for a while.  David's training sessions are always good photographic value and this one started out the same.  But then the weather set in and the rain got more persistent.  By the end of the second lesson you couldnt really see the horses for the rain, I was soaked, my "waterproof" boots had failed miserably (I had prune feet!) as had my waterproof trousers and I feared for my camera despite a rain sheet.  With much regret I called it a day.  Still managed to capture 2 great lessons though.

Images are now on line in the Cross Country Training folder.

August 2011 - I'm not taking the month off!
June and July and been so hectic I've not had chance to update my calendar of up coming events.  I'm hoping to get this done in the next coupe of days.  But just a taster - I'll be at Kingsbarn for a variety of events, Blair International horse Trials with Julia Shearwood Equestrian Photography, Polnoon Castle Riders Show Jumping, a couple of yard photo shoots, some private photo shoots, Strathallan Castle for a cross country training day and Strathearn Eventing for their Working Hunter Derby day.

A gorgeous sunny day (with temperatures reaching 28'c indoors!) greeted those taking part in the Area 19 team show jumping at ingliston.  With classes covering open, intermediate, junior and novice both indoors and outdoors it was going to be a busy day.  The Junior and Novice classes had over 20 teams!  It was a great day and hats off to Chris Morrow and her team for putting together a very smooth event.

25th July 2011 - Wester Deanhead show jumping evening.

22nd July 2011 - Milndavie Riding club pony camp 2
I spent a couple of hours at Milndavie Riding Centre photographing their second pony club camp of the year.  Usually they do small pony club games but because this particular group were a little more advanced Fiona and the team decided to do some small jumps instead.  It was a warm day and the ponies seemeed a little bit lazy so to bring them to life "a little" the group moved in to the cross country field and had a go on a couple of the smaller obstacles.  The ponies instantly came alive and we spent the rest of the session going over the course and watching Blue having a riot to himself!

19th July 2011 - East Stirlingshire Pony club camp show jumping.
Despite being only 5 minutes from my house (and being able to see the yard from my back door!) I still managed to get lost trying to find Bullions Farm where this years East Stirlingshire pony club camp was being held - my trusted sat howerver came to the rescue!  The show jumping competition was the finale of the camp.

17th July 2011 - Kingsbarn Derby
After a morning or working hunters it was a mad dash to Kingsbarn for the start of their Derby show.  A massive 25 jumps over a 1000mtr course winding itself indoors and out over 3 heights from 1.30m to 1.10m tested some top riders; but it was Greg Taylor who would walk away with the teo top prizes earning himself over £1200 in prize money to add to his growing pot from earlier classes.

16th July 2011 - Linlithgow and Stirling pony club camp cup one day event

Set in the grounds of the stunning Rosebury Estate, this years camp cup one day event did not dissapoint with some excellent riding in the dressage, show jumping and cross country classes by all those who took part.
We managed to capture every element - despite the onslaught of the weather at one point - although for the most part it stayed fine and dry.

Images can be found in the Linlithgow and Stirling album.  A 3 for 2 offer applies

15th July 2011 - Kingsbarn Unaffiliated show jumping (grass)
By the time I'd left Wester Deanhead and trekked accross country to Kingsbarn the weather had taken a turn for the worse and the much promised rain had set in.  It did that annoying drizzling thing that rain does more than anything else, making the outdoor arena a tad slippery.  however there were still several brave souls who braved the elements and some great jumping followed.

15th July 2011 - Wester Deanhead pony camp 2
The weather stayed fine for another pony camp extraqvaganza at Wester Deanhead.  Jumping outdoors then back indoors for for pony club games.  Much screaming of encouragement and general meriment  followed - although it was noted that the staff dropped the "soak the trainer" game...

10th July 2011 - Scottish Mounted Games Individual championships - Vogrie Park Edinburgh.

It threatened rainbut we all hoped it wouldn't be the same as yesterday and for the vast majority of the event it was both sunny and overcast.  However just at the end the heavens opened (minus the thunder) adding to some spectacular displays of horseman (or ponyman) - ship by those taking part in this years individsualsd championships.

09th July 2011 - Dalkeith Show.

I can't believe a week ago it was scorching hot!  By contrast the Dalkeith Show (which I was attending as additional photographer support to my good friend Andy from taken Event Photography) was like some kind of Monsoon!  We had glorious sunshine in the morning, the the thunder started but missed us but eventually we got drenched by two huge downpours sending everying except the absolute die hards running for shelter!

08th July 2011 - Wester Deanhead Pony Club camp

The summer holidays are finally here and to kick things off Wester Deanhead Equestrian held their first summer pony camp.  The usual fun and games ensued culminating in the camp finale.  Cue jumping, lots of screaming, plenty of pony club games and the staff getting soaked!  Much fun had by all.  And we even had LOTS of thunder - but thankfully no rain.

The glorious summer sun continued all day Sunday and it was another scorchingly hot day for the Ettrick Forest Riding Association summer show.  A variety of disciplines were captured including dressage, working hunter (including a Blair Qualifier), show jumping and some showing.  A great day and a little more sunburn on my already toasted arms and neck!

2nd July 2011 - Haddington Show.
What a scorcher!  I was helping another photographer friend at the Haddington Show on Saturday, photographing the working hunters and the weather was the best (and hottest) we've had so far this year!  A great day is a little sore from the sunburn!

30th June 2011 - Langlands Summer Show Jumping - June 2011

June has been a bit soggy so it was a real welcome to turn up at langlands on Thursday evening and find it bathed in glorious sunshine!  A busy night saw 5 classes compete and as the sun started to set and the arena get bathed in a gorgeous orange hue the sun played havoc with one of the fences causing some riders a few issues!  Thankfully all those that were detached from their rides were fine!
Images can be found in the Langlands folder and a 3 for 2 applies.

19th June 2011 - Strathkelvin riding club Summer Show

The overcast skies and threat of rain continued from Saturday but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of those taking part at the Strathkelvin riding club's summer show, which dispite the weather was very well attended.  A busy day with a variety of showing, show jumping, working hunter and dressage classes.

18th June 2011 - Gartocharn Junior show.
I can't believe its been 12 months since the last Gartocharn junior show!  Unlike last years hot sunny show, this year was for the most part overcast, but dispite the dull skies the rain stayed away (for the most part) and there was nothing dull about the days events which were full of action.  The sun even made a brief appearence right at the end!

16th June 2011 - Kingsbarn Thursday evening jumping
With most events now outdoors it's been a while since I was at Kingsbarn so I popped up for the Thursday night jumping and to catch up with a few folk.  It was pretty quiet but there was still a fair bit of action and more than a few thrills n spills!

14th June 2011 - Wester deanhead Monday evening show jumping competition.

I went along to the this weeks fortnightly evening show jumping competition at Wester Deanhead and despite the wind playing havoc with a couple of jumps it kept the midgies at bay and the sun was out making for a very nice evening.

11th June 2011 - Diageo 2011 Cycle Challenge.
Diageo contacted me to see if I'd like to photograph their annual cycle challenge which takes place in Scotland over a 50 mile and 100 mile course.  Both courses are very demanding and I wanted to capture the competitors at various points throughout the day to show their determination to complete the course.  Despite the onset of rain mid way through the day, the "infamous midgies" and the challenge of keeping ahead of the riders, we managed to photograph both groups as planned.

05th June 2011 - Titwood Equestrian Area 1 training - David Gatherer.
I'd not been to Titwood for several months so when I heard about the Area 1 training day way back in February I jumped at the chance to pop along and take some photographs.  Three groups (12 riders in total) took part with Scotland's leading XC trainer David Gatherer leading (and riding in) the sessions.  The weather although overcast for the most part stayed dry and it was a great day.

This years Campsie Show was another resounding success with Sinclair Photography covering the equestrian arenas for a second year.  Although initially overcast, the sun we all associate with the Campsie Show finally made an appearance in the afternoon and crowds were treated to a wide array of events.  Some great jumping and showing with the usua
